Salient Features
  • It has dual purpose I.e. drinking water for human needs and saves and transfers for
    cattle’s from other outlets
  • There is reserve store of one liter of water in the hand pump always, so, a single
    person can use this, a tape is provided for this purpose
  • In each operation , 25% of water automatically saves for cattle needs
    It saves the water from wastages
Brief Description
Improved Hand Pump is a combination of two innovations wherein one addresses the problem of water wastage and complexity in drinking water from a hand pump and the other addresses to the drinking of contaminated water by the animals at the hand pump.Both these problems are solved in this new hand pump which has a little modification in design with the marginal increase in cost. This new design has provision of storing about 1 liters of water in its head which can be utilized by operating a tap connected to it, thereby eliminating the need of two operators and at the same time no wastage of water takes place. Also it has another outlet which can be connected to a trough such that whenever the pump is operated, about 25% of the water is donated by the user into
this trough for the animals.

Technology is open source and is available for social diffusion and so the person involved in social work are insisted to carry forward the useful technology to villages
Current status

Till date about 100 such hand pumps have been modified and got installed through PHED in the vicinity of Danta, Sikar. The response received from the people using it, is encouraging. People interested in diffusion of technology are welcome.
