"Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network – North /(GIAN-North)/ is a registered society set-up in November, 2002 by Government of Rajasthan and National Innovation Foundation /(NIF)/ at Jaipur. It works as a technology and business incubator for the grassroots innovations from the north Indian states viz. Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Uttarakhand, NCT of Delhi and UT of Chandigarh. Selected innovations from NIF's innovation database are taken up for value addition, business development and commercial/ social diffusion activities. Technical Details

This is a document laminator which operates on solar energy as well as electrical energy. The laminator focuses solar heat on the surface of a metal plate which in turns facilitates the lamination. This may find good application in the rural where there is scarcity of electricity. The device may also be helpful in livelihood generation as it may also converted into a mobile laminator. The operating cost and cost of lamination is lower than the conventional laminators.

GIAN-North Recognized as SIRO by DSIR

We are happy to announce that the Government of India, Ministry of Science and Technology, Department of Scientific and Industrial Research has accord recognition to Grassroots Innovations Augmentation Network - North, Jaipur (GIAN-North) as Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIROs). On receiving this recognition GIAN-North is entitle to all such administrative support from the Ministry of Science and Technology (DSIR) as may be required on all issues to promote or encourage scientific research activities. Also the organization will be entitle to avail the custom/ excise duty exemption on the import of equipments, instruments, spares thereof, consumables etc.
